Are We Ready?

Ready for what?

Judgement Day.

As much as we like to ignore the fact that there is more than this life on earth. Whether it's after our death or if Jesus returns while we are still alive, we will face Jesus Christ and He will pronounce judgement on us.

I read something startling in my Bible recently. Something Jesus said that all American's should pay attention to. In Matthew 11:21-24 Jesus tells the people of the area who were refusing to repent that it will be worse for them on judgement day than for the ancient cities of Tyre, Sidon and Sodom. These cities were destroyed by God for their wickedness, and yet Jesus was telling the people of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum that their judgement would be greater. Why? Because they saw Jesus Christ with their own eyes, they heard Him teach and preach, they saw the miracles He performed, and yet they did not repent.

Why should American's pay attention to this? How much access do we have to the Bible? Is there one in your home? How many places can we go to hear the Word of the Lord? Is there a church in your city? Most cities have several churches. Here you are reading this blog, the internet has unlimited access to receive the Word of the Lord. And do we open our Bibles? Do we hear the Word preached? Do we repent? With all these resources at our fingertips, what excuse do we have? Will our judgement be greater than that of cities the Lord destroyed for their wickedness?

Are we ready? Are we ready for judgement day?

How do we get ready? Come to Him. Jesus gives us a beautiful promise in the same chapter of Matthew.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gently and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Those were Jesus' words. He says come to Him and to learn from Him. Let us American's get ready,

for we do not know the hour we will come face to face with the Lord.

I do not think it was a coincidence the sermon I heard at church today was on this chapter. It was awesome check it out at... http://www.holyfire.net/ click on 11/23/2014 Guest Speaker Terrance Chong.
